As part of the outlined schedule, the presidential primary election is slated for May 15 to 16, 2026, while governorship primaries will take place on May 23, 2026. Other timelines, including screening exercises and appeals, are clearly defined to ensure a smooth and credible process.
As Nigeria’s governing party, the APC continues to demonstrate its strength as a national institution with a broad base across the federation. The party currently holds the majority of state governments, with over thirty governors under its platform, and maintains a strong presence at the federal level through the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as a significant number of ministers and heads of key government agencies.
This extensive reach reflects the confidence reposed in the party by Nigerians and underscores its responsibility to continue providing effective leadership and governance.
With the release of this timetable, the APC once again sets the tone for early preparation, internal discipline, and inclusive participation. The party remains committed to providing a level playing field for all aspirants while upholding the principles of fairness, credibility, and democratic excellence.
The journey to 2027 has begun with clarity of purpose and a firm resolve to build on the achievements recorded so far in delivering progress, stability, and renewed hope for all Nigerians.
